For one of my anthro classes (Drugs, Bodies, Design) I am reading a novel called White Noise by Don DeLillo. I think the band Airborne Toxic Event got their name from the title of Part II. The story doesn’t do much for me, but I love certain passages like this one: “Love helps us develop an identity secure enough to allow itself to be placed in another’s care and protection....

I just finished reading Maus by Art Spiegelman. I’ve never read a graphic novel before, and I really enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to reading the second one. Once I got over reading both the comic caption and quotes (that some times read unevenly and were clearly translations of the original language), the story was really good. I recommend it!

New Years Eve Rant
I am ready for a new year! I know it will take a while to remember that it’s not 2011 anymore as I date my papers, let alone that it’s not 2010, 2009, or 2008. It’s crazy how quickly time passes. I know that I’m only 20 years old, but I feel like time is rushing by and I’ve learned a lot about myself since I went to college. I love women/gender and media studies,...

“I can guarantee a haircut will never tell you anything about someone’s gender, who they love, or how they fuck” -Andrea Gibson I’m using this quote in my Gender & Sexuality final paper! My paper is on power dynamics and gender norms of masculinity, femininity and sexuality associated with hair.

Weekend:
I am mad at myself because I forgot about the BUST Magazine Craftacular/Food Festival in Soho. In other news, I had a lot of fun in Brooklyn on friday night. I ate delicious thai food with a couple of beautiful people. An old friend and a new friend, it was great. The ride home was hell because of the Santacon bar crawl in the city. Imagine drunken bitties in santa garb (there were a few Chanukah...
